The Health Tree Tea-KINKELIBA

This is a story of the Tea leaves from the Tiger bush on the hills of west Africa.

Kinkeliba means the 'Health Tree'. The curative leaves are used to make the 'Quinquellibas drink', a refreshing tea traded as Kinkeliba. The French import kinkeliba and call it "tisane de longue vie" or infusion of long life. This is when they discovered the secret to Kinkeliba.

Here is another story of Kinkeliba

The Story of Kinkeliba as substitute for breakfast tea such as Lipton tea.

During the rule of Ahmed Sekou Toure of Guinea, the country was under sanction by the west and was isolated to punish the Guineans for refusing to accept the French as colonial master.

The Guineans were forced to turn inward for solutions and for breakfast they use Kinkeliba for tea.

This was the unofficial official tea for all Guineans during that period.

The generation now do not even know what Kinkeliba is and they import tea from overseas.

Older generation do remember the good old days when life was simpler.

The leaves, roots and barks are said to have many medicinal usages such as anti-inflammatory properties and detoxifying properties. Kinkeliba makes a strong brew of tea and most importantly can be drank with milk and desired sweeteners.

Honey is recommended as the desire sweetener.

The tea is produced by steeping the leaves in boiling water to desired strength. The first boiled is usually the strongest brewed.

It can be brewed again for up to two or three brewing sections.
